Can I request money to purchase items myself or to pay for my time?
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide direct monetary grants to people who are currently incarcerated.
Is there a way to apply directly to the fund without going through a Community Resource Manager (CRM)?
All requests will be routed through CRMs, but if you are not able to get in contact with your CRM, please reach out to us with your idea, and we can send it to them for inclusion. You can reach us at insideimpactfund@impactjustice.org or by mail at Inside Impact Fund, 2930 Lakeshore Avenue, Suite 300, Oakland, CA 94610.
Does California Department of Correction and Rehabilitation (CDCR) have any say in what gets chosen for funding?
All final grant decisions are made by our own independent Grants Council, but the CDCR does review all requests.
How much financial support can I receive?
Support for a single project ranges from a minimum of $200 to a maximum of $2,000. You don’t need to know the exact dollar amount to request support. You only need to describe material items or other types of support you need to realize your idea.
Where is my money going if I donate to this fund?
All donations will go towards funding small-scale grant requests in response to proposals from incarcerated people in California. Your donation will help bring to life the good ideas of people in prison!
